The thrilling fantasy series Game of Thrones mesmerised millions of viewers and was one of the best-loved productions in the world. Each character had their fan base, as the series enraptured viewers with its storyline, its amazing costumes and visual effects. Now a spin-off series is in the works.
Hoping to draw in millions to the small screen again, the series is deemed to be a hit in the making. We looked into the series for you and here we are, keeping you posted! If you’re ready, let’s talk about the production called House of the Dragon which shares much of the same DNA with the Game of Thrones.
The creator and writer of the series G.R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood novel is the departure point for the screenplay, as we go back to the beginning to the complex scenario that is the origin of Game of Thrones’ success today.
We will be able to see the emergence of the most interesting, toughest characters and the seminal events. Another creator of the series, Ryan Condal, is the screenwriter for the relatively lesser-known science fiction series Colony. With its talented writers, the team will surely have another hit on their hands as they break the mould once more!
Just as in the Harry Potter prequels, in this series, we also go back to the beginning of the stories, where everything is upside down, and adventure and challenges begin at the same time. House of the Dragon is a series that will allow you to see the era prior to which the main characters of our story will end up living in. The prequels for the Lord of the Rings productions had revealed all the secrets of the films. You will soon live the same experience with House of the Dragon!
So What Will House of the Dragon Be All About?
As you can understand from the name and the posters, House of the Dragon will focus on the past of the Targaryen dynasty. You can witness a different story in the same universe while getting to know the Targaryens; the dragons are a great bonus to the script. As you know, you can’t imagine Targaryens without dragons and vice versa.
With the strength of George R.R. Martin’s pen, there is fighting amongst siblings and fighting amongst dragons, as things escalate to a civil war. Game of Thrones’ main goal of finding the rightful owner of the Iron Throne is also the subject of House of the Dragon. Targaryens’ blood loss begins with this war and in this context.
Where Was House of the Dragon Filmed?
In addition to a strong story and impressive visuals, House of the Dragon is filmed in locations that will make you feel as if you’ve taken an exotic geographic tour.
Among the preferred locations for the series, there is Derbyshire and Cornwall’s St. Michael’s Mount Island in the United Kingdom. There is also Trujillo which was one of the focal points of the legendary Game of Thrones and Caceres, a Roman city in Spain. There are also a considerable amount of scenes shot in Portugal’s Monsanto village, so prepare to wake up to a different location with each episode!
